Sound without borders
An inherited ear. An expanding practice.
Riddim 3mpress — known to collaborators as RaQs — is a DJ, vocalist, and multidisciplinary artist. Her sets move through nostalgic hip hop, punk, alternative, and R&B before descending into phonk, drum and bass, and jungle. Live vocals give each performance a personal texture, while original projection art, created and performed in real time, extends the work beyond sound into a complete sensory experience.
Her taste is shaped by a multicultural upbringing: Caribbean roots spanning West Indian and Indigenous African ancestry, alongside Italian and Irish heritage on her father's side. Her father spent 40 years behind the decks before retiring, and that inherited instinct for rhythm, range, and eclectic selection runs through every set.
Music, image, and community are not separate lanes — they are parts of the same live experience.
She continues to sharpen her craft at Overture DJ Studios and through open-decks sessions across the city, with new collaborations to be announced. On the music front, Riddim 3mpress is preparing the rollout of her debut album, Unbecoming. Its first releases under new distribution are scheduled to begin in August 2026, alongside the long-anticipated re-release of her debut single, “Wake Up,” with a full music video.

Genetics & Growing Conditions
Why genetics and growing conditions matterThe strain's genetic lineage determines its potential — how complex its terpene profile can be, which cannabinoids it's capable of producing, and how it'll express under the right conditions. But genetics alone don't make quality. How a plant is grown — the environment, nutrients, light, and care — determines whether that potential is realised. Great genetics grown poorly produce mediocre flower. Modest genetics grown with exceptional care can surprise you.
Genetic Background
What is known or suspected about the lineage of this cultivar
Environment and cultivation method — these directly shape quality, aroma intensity, and chemical complexity
Overall cultivation quality impression5
1 = signs of stress, nutrient burn, or poor environment. 10 = exceptional care clearly visible in the flower's structure, colour, and density.
Harvest & Post-Harvest
Timing and curing directly affect potency, aroma, smoothness, and shelf life
Visual & Scope Analysis
What you're looking forTrichomes are the tiny, crystal-like resin glands that coat the flower — they contain nearly all of the cannabinoids and terpenes. Under a loupe or macro lens, look at their colour: clear means the plant harvested early and hasn't fully developed. Cloudy or milky white means peak ripeness — this is when potency and terpene expression are at their highest. Amber means the THC has begun converting to CBN, shifting the effect toward sedation. The structure of the bud itself — density, trim, moisture, colour — also tells you how well the plant was grown and cured.
Trichome State
○
Clear
Early harvest — underdeveloped potency
◉
Cloudy / Milky
Peak ripeness — optimal potency & terpenes
◕
Amber
Past peak — THC converting to CBN, more sedative
◑
Cloudy + Amber
Balanced harvest — potency with some body effect
Trichome Quality
Coverage / density5
1 = barely visible, 10 = every surface completely frosted including sugar leaves
Trichome head integrity5
Are the heads intact and round, or broken/degraded? Intact = better preservation of cannabinoids and terpenes.
Bud Structure
Density5
1 = airy and loose, 10 = dense and tightly formed. Neither extreme is automatically better — depends on genetics.
Trim quality5
1 = heavily over-trimmed or sloppy, 10 = clean, precise trim that preserves sugar leaves without excess material
Cure & Appearance
Moisture & cure5
Should feel slightly spongy — not wet (mold risk) or bone dry (harsh smoke, terpene loss). Ideal is 58–62% RH.
Pistil colour & vibrancy5
Pistils (the orange/red hairs) that are vivid and well-distributed indicate a healthy, well-developed plant
Calyx-to-leaf ratio5
Calyxes are the actual bud — more calyx, less leaf means higher potency per gram and better smoking quality
Freedom from defects8
Look for seeds, stems, mold spots, dark discoloration, or signs of pest damage. 10 = completely clean.

Visual Notes
Aroma, Flavor & Chemical Profile
The aromatic chemistry of cannabis — simplifiedTerpenes are the fragrant compounds that give each strain its unique smell and flavour — think of them like essential oils produced by the plant. They're also responsible for much of the nuance in how a strain feels, beyond just THC. Esters are a sub-class of aromatic compounds that create fruity, tropical, and floral notes. Flavonoids are plant pigments that contribute subtle bitter or earthy undertones and have their own wellness properties. Together, these compounds interact with cannabinoids in what's called the entourage effect — meaning the whole is more than the sum of its parts. A flat, single-note aroma usually indicates terpene loss from poor cure, light damage, or age.
Aroma Intensity
Jar-open nose intensity5
How strong is the smell the moment you open the container? 1 = barely detectable, 10 = immediately fills the room
Break / grind release5
Does the aroma intensify significantly when you break it apart? A big jump here signals a terpene-rich, well-preserved sample.
Aroma complexity5
1 = flat, one-dimensional smell. 10 = layered aroma that evolves as you smell it — base notes, mid notes, top notes all distinct
Aroma retention5
How long does the smell linger after handling? Longer retention = better terpene preservation, typically indicating proper curing and storage
Terpene Families
Select all the aromatic families you detect — trust your nose, even if you're new to this. These are the main scent categories found in cannabis.
Flavonoids are plant pigments that contribute colour and subtle structural flavour notes — often described as earthy, bitter, or herbal undertones in high-quality flower.
0 selected
Cannaflavin A — bitter, deeply earthy, anti-inflammatoryCannaflavin B — similar to A, slightly milderQuercetin — faintly bitter, antioxidant-richKaempferol — mild floral, studied for anti-cancer propertiesApigenin — chamomile-like, mildly anxiolyticOrientin — grassy, fresh green characterVitexin — herbal, understated
Flavour & Smoke Quality
Flavour accuracy (smell matches taste)5
Does the flavour on the inhale match the aroma in the jar? High accuracy = terpene-rich and well-preserved
Flavour complexity on inhale5
Flavour on exhale / aftertaste5
Does the flavour linger pleasantly after exhale? A long, clean finish is a hallmark of exceptional terpene quality.
Smoothness of smoke / vapour5
1 = harsh, scratchy, or irritating. 10 = clean, smooth, no coughing. Smoothness reflects cure quality, flush, and terpene balance.
Cannabinoid Profile
Why minor cannabinoids matter — and why THC% is just the beginningMost cannabis products are marketed on THC percentage alone. But THC is one of over 100 cannabinoids the plant produces — and many of them have distinct, meaningful effects. CBG energises and focuses. CBN sedates. CBC lifts mood and reduces inflammation. THCV sharpens the high and suppresses appetite. Together, these compounds interact in ways that no single number can capture. A 24% THC flower with a flat cannabinoid profile often delivers a blunter, less nuanced experience than a 19% flower with a rich minor cannabinoid and terpene matrix. This is the entourage effect — and it's why full-spectrum quality always outperforms isolated potency.
Minor Cannabinoids — Mark what you detect or know is present
Use lab test results if available, or use the descriptions below to make an educated assessment based on the sample's behaviour and character
0 detected
CBG
Cannabigerol — the "mother cannabinoid," precursor to all others
Energising and focus-enhancing. Anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. Elevated in early-harvest or specialty cultivars. If this sample feels mentally clarifying without heaviness, CBG may be present.
Energising
CBN
Cannabinol — forms as THC breaks down over time or from heat/light
Mildly sedating. Its presence signals age, amber trichomes, or improper storage. Not a quality indicator in most contexts — but useful to know about for sleep-oriented use.
Sedating
CBC
Cannabichromene — mood-lifting, non-psychoactive
Works synergistically with CBD to enhance therapeutic effects. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic. Often present in younger tissue. If the sample feels uplifting without intensity, CBC may be contributing.
Mood-lifting
THCV
Tetrahydrocannabivarin — a sharper, faster-acting THC analog
Appetite-suppressing, produces a clear and focused euphoria, and can moderate anxiety caused by THC. Found in African sativa landraces. If the high feels fast-onset and unusually clear-headed, THCV may be a factor.
Clear & sharp
CBDV
Cannabidivarin — structural relative of CBD with neurological properties
Anticonvulsant, anti-nausea, studied for neurological and developmental conditions. Non-intoxicating. Most commonly found in CBD-dominant or low-THC cultivars.
Neurological
CBDA
Cannabidiolic acid — the raw, unactivated form of CBD found in living or fresh flower
Anti-nausea, anti-anxiety, and interacts with serotonin receptors. Present in fresh or minimally-processed material. Destroyed by heat. High CBDA indicates recently harvested, well-preserved flower.
Raw / fresh
THCA
Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid — THC in its raw, non-intoxicating form
Anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective in its raw state. Converts to intoxicating THC when heated. A high THCA-to-THC ratio on a lab panel indicates fresh, minimally degraded material — a quality signal.
Freshness signal
CBL
Cannabicyclol — a rare compound that forms when CBC is exposed to UV light
Its presence typically signals UV light damage during improper storage. Not a therapeutic target — more of a quality warning indicator. Minimal studied effects beyond indicating storage conditions.
Storage warning
Lab Test Data Optional — enter if available
On terpene percentageA terpene % above 2.0 is considered expressive. A sample with 20% THC and 2.5% terpenes will typically deliver a richer, more nuanced experience than a 28% THC sample with 0.8% terpenes. Total cannabinoid diversity matters more than peak THC.
Effect & Wellness Profile
Evaluating effect quality — not just potencyA truly high-quality cultivar delivers on its promises. This section is about the actual experience — how the effect feels, what it supports, and how smoothly and cleanly it arrives and resolves. A harsh smoke, a racing heart, or an experience that doesn't match the aroma profile are all quality signals. Rate based on what you've experienced or what you anticipate from the overall profile of this sample.

Burn & Consumption Quality
Overall smoothness5
How clean and comfortable is the smoke or vapour? 1 = harsh, 10 = remarkably smooth
Ash colour (white = clean burn)5
White ash = properly flushed nutrients and a clean cure. Dark or black ash = excess minerals, synthetic nutrients, or poor cure quality.
1 = abrupt, anxious, or disorienting onset. 10 = smooth, predictable, well-calibrated onset that matches the expected profile.
Overall effectiveness for intended purpose5
